About Us

5 B Outfitters is named after Blaine County in Idaho and pays homage to all the rivers, creeks, and beautiful lakes that wind their way through the Sawtooth mountain range around Galena through Ketchum and Sun Valley. They produce some of the best fly fishing in the world. Flowing South through Hailey and Bellevue, the Big Wood River awaits. A little further south is the Famous Silver Creek with its beautiful scenery abundant wildlife and of course Trout, many Trout. I have fished 5B for over 40 years. Growing up as a kid I started fly fishing with a $10.00 thrift shop fly rod and line that barely floated, and the once 12’ leader was less than half that length however, at age 10 I was not deterred; I would take out a “loan” of a few quarters from Dads Crown Royal bag and off to the Sawtooth Lodge I went to buy a few hoppers. After climbing trees and rustling through bushes to unhook the branches from my fly line I finally hit the water and l kid you not, on my very first try I caught a 16” Rainbow, from that day on I was hooked. We all know that Fly fishing can be awfully expensive but over the years, after testing tons of different products from fly's to gear at all prices, I have gathered together some great producers, from my old standbys to new innovations that are long lasting and best yet, affordable. After years of giving tips to my friends and other anglers in the rivers, and at their suggestion, I decided to put 5B Outfitters together in this website for you to build your own memories as I have.
